Sunday Funday

Except not really that fun, as the java tests I was writing find it enjoyable to toy with their master and simply not run. a;sldkfja;sd

Anyway:
I have been on a nu-disco / jazzy / funky house type spree lately, which garners all kinds of interesting looks when I get a phone call (my ring-tone is the Duck Sauce track below.) I have always been heavily into jazz and funk, two of my biggest influences being Miles Davis and James Brown, respectively. This funky house movement seems to be taking all of the good, danceable things from both of those genres and blending them together at a faster tempo, which makes me want to shake my butt.

I know it isn’t conventional, as the samples are from the funk and disco era, so at first glance I may appear to be the weird dude trying to bring back Saturday Night Fever. It is in the music and rhythm, though, that things like that don’t matter. So many songs these days simply aren’t danceable; Let’s bring back the dance party. Seriously.

I keep hearing this track on BBCRadio1’s satellite broadcast, and I can’t seem to get it out of my head. It’s so freaking catchy, and the little nuances of fidget add so much to the track.

Now this next track has been known to cause spontaneous dance moves, for obvious reasons. Duck Sauce is the lovechild of Armand Van Helden and A-Trak, both HUGE names in the edm scene.

Skanking like a fool.

If you don’t know Diesel yet, prepare to be knocked on your ass. I got this track from an Inspector Dubplate upload – any of you dubbers should know the quality level involved with Inspector’s releases. The intro is reminiscent of Christmas music, but the absolute filth-fuck of bass that ensues is sure to soil the gnarliest of skankers.

PS: Decided to start my blog off with a dubstep track since I have been on the whole bass kick lately. Maybe you know me personally, but are unfamiliar with dubstep as a genre. It is raw, sexual, dirty bass driven music, usually at a grimey two-step pace around 140bpm.

The Dark Before the Singularity

//I wrote this a while ago, under the moniker of Lark. Figured I would post it here as this is my permanent space now.//

Lark.

The dark before the singularity.

I will end the world. It will be swift. Everything will become nothing, nothingness will become null. And in my last breath I will invert the universe, so that you might gaze upon what you have destroyed. You will stare deeply into your own eyes, those same eyes that gazed into mine with arrogance and defiance.

You will weep.

I will laugh.

Jubilance through Chaos is such an interesting concept, maybe because so few beings are able to see the pattern woven throughout the uncertainty. So few beings are able to perceive the constellations formed by the empty spaces between the stars. It is too great a gift for mortals, I know that know. I gave it to you in a fit of delusion.

Fool.

You possessed an ability unlike any of your peers. I gave you the gift of truth, of sight, of secret.

Looking at the pages hastily scribed in dark blue ink, I realize my error.

Gods should not love mortals.

I bestowed upon you the most impartial and infinite of gifts. And now I shall have to clean up the mess that I have created. It is my fault for trusting you.

But, alas, now you must die.

Don’t fear it. I still love you. It will be quick. Your mind will open, and life will spill forth and all around. It is not as you think it is – there is no light, no door. Only deafening silence – just long enough for you to regret, and then nothing.

Death is not a road, to awe or anywhere else. It is not a path nor a transition. It is a mighty crevasse that opens beneath you and swallows you whole. As you approach absolution, all light fades, all feeling fades. You know that you are falling, because you can’t feel anything, but there is nothing else. No wind, no sound. And then, everything all at once, for you not only ended your life, but the existence of the entire universe.

But, you brought this upon yourself.

Adieu.
